Let me ask you this. Why would you use a hashtag on Facebook? It does absolutely nothing. Facebook has yet to incorporate this into their site. The only time you should legitamitely see it on FB is if it is an update from Twitter, Instagram or other participating social network. It is one of those things that just irks you (or me in this case).
What is a Hashtag you ask? Here let's let Wikipedia explain:
"A hashtag is a word or a phrase prefixed with the symbol
#
,[1][2] a form of metadata tag. Also, short messages on microblogging social networking services such as Twitter, Tout, identi.ca, or Google+ may be tagged by including one or more with multiple words concatenated, e.g.:- #Wikipedia is an #encyclopedia
Hashtags provide a means of grouping such messages, since one can search for the hashtag and get the set of messages that contain it."
This was taken from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashtag
In case your dying of curiosity, here are the sites that participate in 'hashtagging'.
Websites that support hashtags
- Diaspora software and social network
- All Gawker Media websites
- Google+
- Tagboard
- Orkut[9]
- Tout
- Tumblr
- Twitter (since 2009)
- YouTube (2009–2011)
- FriendFeed (since 2009)
- Fluidinfo
- Catch.com (as well as mobile apps)
- Sina Weibo

- WorkFlowy
Nope don't see Facebook's name on there.
Like I said. It's not the end of the world. Just something that drives me a little nutty when I see it.
Thanks for listening.
